The Parenting Mobile is a fully-equipped mobile classroom that visits neighborhoods on a regular basis with advice for parents on problems they are having with their kids, information about upcoming parenting classes and workshops or just a friendly ear to listen. They can step into the van to watch a video about positive discipline, communication skills, child development or stress reduction strategies, or to borrow a parenting book, meet with a group of neighbors to brainstorm solutions to common problems, and/or request an individual parent consultation session. AllParenting Mobile services are provided by experienced parent educators for free.
The Parenting Mobile,, staffed by experienced parent educators and community volunteers, travels to area festivals, fairs, events, and other public gathering places, and will be used by a regional consortium of 14 parenting education programs, including CYFS. DVD's Needed
Short, educational, recent DVDs (for example, Dora the Explorer, Bob the Builder) and some long ones (Cars, Happy Feet, and classics like Jungle Book, Cinderella, Little Mermaid etc). contact Hilary Nagel.
ParentingMobile 2009 Schedule
Parents please visit the van to see our resources, to receive information about parenting or about community resources, to schedule an appointment with our parent educator, or to offer suggestions to help this new program grow. Children are welcome to play with toys or enjoy a book while parents are in consultation or viewing a video.
Remember that Parent Educator is available for individual consultation by appointment to bring materials to your home, give one-on-one guidance, or to work through a problem with you and your family.
